Hitch a Ride With Optimus Prime Through Uber

Car Hailing Service Teams Up with Paramount for Movie Launch

Jun 18, 2014
Car hailing service Uber has been in the news a lot lately, mostly for ticking off European cab drivers and causing mass congestion in London and Paris. Beloved by its users and loathed by the established cab services, Uber is teaming up with Paramount Pictures to promote "Transformers: Age of Extinction" by making the larger-than-life star of the movie, Optimus Prime, available for hailing in select cities leading up to the movie's premiere on June 27.
Optimus Prime rolled on in Dallas, Texas, on June 16 and is available from 1 to 7 p.m. The truck will be available in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 19 from 1 to 7 p.m. and Los Angeles on June 21 from 1 to 7 p.m. To get a chance to get transported to your destination by the flamed big-rig superhero, open the Uber app on your smartphone and select the "Autobots" option.
Optimus Prime in the latest movie is based in a Western Star 4900X and previews the styling of the upcoming Western Star 5700 truck that will be unveiled in fall 2014. Optimus Prime has been represented in past Transformers movies by the iconic Peterbilt 379. The two trucks share a similar and instantly recognizable paint scheme of a flame detail over a blue base.
