Land Rover Promises "A Lot More" Performance with 2015 Range Rover Sport RS
15-Second YouTube Video Teases Cayenne-Rivaling Performance
With M, AMG, and other tuned performance SUVs delivering sub-5-second 0-60 times— and even your garden-variety Cadillac Escalade doing the benchmark test in around 6 flat—the idea of a high-performance SUV no longer seems foreign or weird. The newest batch of Range Rover models are generally no slouches in the performance arena, either, with the 5.0L supercharged V-8 offered in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport giving these models plenty of moxie on the road. But for some, 510 hp and 461 lb-ft aren't enough. If you count yourself among the power hungry, get ready for the main course, as Land Rover gets ready to serve up its hottest SUV yet: the 2015 Range Rover Sport RS.
This clip on YouTube has a brief narration of a proper British gentleman extolling the virtues of Land Rover's traditional off-road capabilities and promising greater on-road performance is coming. In his words, "a lot more," as we see a camo-splotched SUV whiz by the screen at high speed. With the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models going to an all-aluminum construction and shedding hundreds of pounds over its predecessor, the stage was already set for a higher-performance variation. And, by the looks of things, we won't have to wait much longer to see the Range Rover Sport RS in the sheetmetal.
