Mobility Ventures Unveils MV-1 LX Luxury Model
Purpose-Built Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle Goes Upscale
We’ve covered and even driven the Mobility Ventures MV-1 before. While many of us take walking, running, and free mobility for granted, for thousands of Americans, life in a wheelchair is a reality. To give these individuals a transportation option built with their specific needs in mind, Mobility Ventures, LLC, built the MV-1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there’s a certain appeal to its beefy, neo-London-taxi-on-steroids look. To give its buyers even more choices, the company just unveiled the MV-1 LX model, offering more upscale trim and features than the standard DX model.
The LX offers 20-inch polished alloy wheels in place of the standard 17-inch wheels, Rosewood interior trim, Ebony leather on the door panels, and Ebony leather seating surfaces with diamond-stitched, quilted inserts. Like the other MV-1 models, the LX is powered by Ford’s proven 4.6L Modular two-valve V-8, producing 248 hp and 294 lb-ft of torque mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. A CNG fuel option is also available. Standard MV-1 SE and DX trims have a top speed governor of 80 mph, but the LX raises the maximum speed to 99 mph.
Optional on the LX trim is an upgraded audio package, including DVD playback when parked, a rear backup camera, 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth capability, Sirius satellite radio, and navigation. All MV-1 models are built to meet or exceed Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.
