Report: New Bentley SUV to be Priced from $220,000
Brand Boss Durheimer Confirms Premium Price Point
There's expensive, and there's expensive. Fullsize truck buyers may balk at a $60,000 price tag for a well-equipped crew cab ½-ton, but that total won't even get you a third of the new Bentley SUV, according to Autocar. Speaking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Bentley brand CEO Wolfgang Durheimer told the outlet the Bentley SUV would have a price point "above £130k," or more than $220,000 at current rates. A well-equipped Range Rover LWB Autobiography can approach or even slightly surpass the $200,000 mark, and six-figure SUVs are nothing uncommon from Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and even fully equipped BMW X5 models.
In terms of a price ceiling, the high end is expected to be slightly less than the Bentley Mulsanne, which goes for a little less than $300,000. The Bentley SUV is expected to have a decidedly performance-oriented bent, with a top speed reportedly targeted to be close to 200 mph on the highest-performance model. Power for the top model is expected to come from a version of the corporate W12 turbo engine. The Bentley SUV may also be offered with a gas V-8 option, as well as a diesel, which will be a first for the brand.
