Brabus Outfits Mercedes-Benz Sprinter As Mobile Business Lounge
Wi-Fi, power outlets, coffee machine, and a fridge.
Although German tuner Brabus is perhaps best known for adding ludicrous amounts of horsepower to Mercedes-Benz cars, it turns out the company can also add a dash of luxury to less sporting vehicles. At the Moscow International Automobile Salon, the company introduced the Brabus Business Lounge, a high-class take on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van with an ultra-luxurious interior.
Starting with a long-wheelbase, high-roof version of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Brabus fitted its own 18-inch wheels, a new front fascia with LED running lights, and twin Brabus exhausts. It's the interior, however, that received a far more thorough makeover. Behind a bulkhead aft of the driver and passenger, four seats are mounted face-to-face to allow for meetings while on the move. The powered seats are fully adjustable and have heating, cooling, and massaging features, and can even fold totally flat for sleeping. Behind them is another pair of seats with fewer features.
An on-board computer network allows occupants to access LTE mobile internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot, and several touchscreens let passengers control everything from the add-on climate control unit, to the eight powered curtains for the van's tinted windows, to the 2700-LED "starry sky" headliner that can simulate everything from clouds floating on a sunny day to a twinkling constellations in the night sky. There are eight USB ports for charging phones and tablets, as well as three 220-volt outlets for larger devices like laptops, and even a built-in refrigerator and coffee maker.
At the front of the passenger compartment, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has a 42-inch LCD screen that can show movies, live TV, or video games from an on-board PlayStation or Xbox. Four exterior cameras can also project the van's surroundings on the screen. A 1200-watt Dolby sound system tops off the multimedia experience.
There's no word yet on how much Brabus will charge for its Business Lounge van, which must be special-ordered from the company. In the U.S., a 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter passenger van starts at $41,010.
