2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation Edition Announced
Special-Edition ½-Ton Joins Carbon Edition
As much as we’d love to see a shortbed, regular-cab, two-wheel-drive ½-ton with the LT1 and a six-speed manual, we know such a hot-rod special likely wouldn’t survive the scrutiny of a business case. Instead, we have a second special-edition 2015 Sierra, following last week’s announcement of the Sierra Carbon Edition. Meet the 2015 GMC Sierra Elevation Edition. GMC calls the Elevation Edition a “sport pickup,” but we’d describe it as more “sporty.” Like the Carbon Edition, the Elevation will be offered with the 285hp 4.3L EcoTec3 V-6 as standard, and the 355hp 5.3L V-8 as optional. The main defining characteristics of the Elevation will be its cab configuration (Double Cab only) and its monochrome exterior paintjob, which includes the grille surround, door handles, mirror caps, side moldings, and front and rear bumpers.
Other goodies included with the Elevation Edition include LED driving lights, foglights, black-painted 20-inch alloy wheels, LED cargo box lighting, an in-cab 110-volt AC power outlet, Bluetooth connectivity, a 4.2-inch IntelliLink touchscreen display, and an OnStar 4G LTE hotspot. The trim will be offered in both two- and four-wheel-drive and will be in dealerships in late 2014. Pricing for the Elevation Edition will be announced at a later date.
