Detail Changes for 2015 Ram, Jeep Models

Cherokee Gets Stop/Start, Auto Braking, Power Wagon Hill Descent

Aug 29, 2014
After coming off a heady last two years of new product introductions and major updates, Chrysler is backing off the throttle slightly for 2015 with its truck and SUV offerings, which are mostly detail changes to models in its Ram and Jeep lineups.

With major changes happening for the 2013 and 2014 model years, the Ram 1500 rolls into 2015 model year with few changes. Aside from the previously reported torque bump on the Cummins-powered 3500 models to 865 lb-ft, HD models also get available power-folding mirrors, and optional Ram Work Grade vinyl seats for maximum durability. The Power Wagon off-road model adds a new Hill Descent control feature. The Ram 2500 gets an optional rear air spring suspension, and the 3500 models get rear air helper springs to supplement the rear leafs.

The ProMaster will finally get the long-awaited 3.0L I-4 turbodiesel option sometime in 2015. The 174hp, 295 lb-ft engine is mated to a six-speed single-clutch automated manual. The Dodge Caravan-based Ram C/V van continues for the time being but is expected to be phased out once the new Fiat Doblo-based ProMaster City reaches showrooms in late 2014.

The biggest changes in the Jeep lineup for the 2015 model year are the addition of auto stop-start on Cherokee models equipped with the 3.2L Pentastar V-6 and available forward collision mitigation and auto-braking. The Trailhawk model also adds an optional driver side memory seat on models equipped with leather upholstery. The option also adds seat cooling for both front seats. One year before it will be mandatory on all new vehicles, the backup camera is standard equipment in the Trailhawk and Latitude trims.
The Grand Cherokee gets active noise cancellation on the upscale Summit trim, a California-edition appearance package, and a new Argentina Tan leather interior option. The Grand Cherokee SRT gets a power bump to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, an increase of five each, and a new Red Vapor appearance package.
The built-in-Italy Renegade is Jeep’s all-new B-segment subcompact model, available with either a 184hp 2.4L I-4 on models equipped with the nine-speed automatic or a 1.4L turbo I-4 on models with the six-speed manual. The Renegade is scheduled to go on-sale in December. The lame-duck Compass and Patriot models add a High Altitude package, which includes leather seating, power sunroof, power driver seat, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
