Eaton Introduces Procision Dual-Clutch Transmission for Class 6, 7 Trucks

First Dual-Clutch Transmission Offered in North America in Class

Sep 11, 2014
Eaton is a well-known name in the automotive and commercial industries for the wide variety of parts and components it supplies to nearly every market segment. One of the leading suppliers of automated manual transmissions for the Class 8 market, Eaton is now introducing its Procision seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for Class 6 and 7 trucks.
The dual-clutch configuration is engineered to deliver smooth, continuous torque to the drive wheels and is claimed to offer an 8-to-10-percent improvement in fuel economy over a conventional torque converter automatic. The Procision also offers optional Urge to Move and Creep modes, allowing the operators to adjust the transmission’s operation in low-speed environments, with an independently adjustable reverse. The Procision also offers an available Hill Helper technology that holds the vehicle for up to 3 seconds on inclines or declines.
The Procision also offers as many as three power take-off (PTO) openings that can be enabled by authorized service representatives. Service intervals are 150,000 miles between lube and filter changes, with an overall design life of 10 years or 400,000 miles. The transmission is covered by a three-year, unlimited-mile warranty. School bus applications are covered by a five-year, unlimited-mile warranty.
