Ford Launches 2015 F-150 Build and Price
Configurator Features Pricing, Options, and Colors for Aluminum-Bodied Truck
Excited for the new aluminum-bodied F-150 to go on sale? Well, you’ll still have to wait a few more months, but in the meantime, head over to Ford’s Build and Price page for the truck, which just went active.
The configurator looks like it works exactly as it does for other Fords, so dialing in your perfect ride is pretty simple. The configurator also updates the on-screen display when you select a new option, so you know exactly how cool those FX4 graphics will be or how flashy that chrome package is.
The only frustrating thing about the configurator is that it costs a lot more and takes a lot more time to actually put an F-150 in the driveway. But, until you can actually bring the real deal home, print out your build and tape it to the fridge for some inspiration.
The F-150 goes on sale late this year as a 2015 model. As we’ve reported before, the truck will shed up to 700 pounds over the 2014 model, and Ford projects that trimming the fat will help the F-150 become the most capable truck in the half-ton class.
Like it did for the 2011 model year, Ford is downsizing engines, with the largest engine now available being the 5.0-liter V8. The standard engine is still a naturally aspirated V6, this time displacing 3.5 liters instead of 3.7. In spite of some powertrain shakeups, Ford promises that the new F-150 gives absolutely nothing up in terms of performance, payload, or towing capacity. We’re excited to find out.
