Reading Releases Ram ProMaster Aluminum Utility Body
Aluminum Body Almost 50 Percent Lighter than Steel Equivalent
One of the key attributes that determines the success of a commercial vehicle platform is the number of upfit options for vocational duty. If you’ve been considering a Ram ProMaster cab-chassis, you now have one more option for a vocational utility body. Reading Truck Body is now offering its aluminum Classic Service Van (CSV) body for the ProMaster cutaway model. Aluminum is receiving a lot of attention now with the coming rollout of the 2015 Ford F-150, but Reading has been building aluminum utility bodies since 1981.
The company claims the CSV offers exceptional ergonomics, with pass-through access from the cab to the cargo area. Other premium features include hidden hinges, galvanized shelving, LED lighting, nitrogen strut door holders, stainless steel locks, Latchmatic keyless locking systems, and a three-bow ladder rack.
The company claims the aluminum utility body can save up to 10 percent in fuel costs and increases overall payload capacity due to its lighter weight. The company is offering the bodies in 57- and 75-inch configurations initially and will offer more variations as the chassis line expands. Reading also offers steel and aluminum utility bodies for the General Motors fullsize vans, as well as bodies for the new 2015 Ford Transit fullsize van.
