Toyo Debuts Open Country R/T Intermediate Truck Tire
New Design Balances Off-Road Traction, On-Road Comfort
We all like our trucks and SUVs to look tough, but sometimes, looking good can mean a sacrifice in daily comfort and long-term tire tread life. If your truck, SUV, or Jeep only comes out on the weekends to wheel, it’s no big deal. But if your rig also happens to be your daily driver, then everyday practicality and comfort is a major purchase consideration. For everyday drivers that want the perfect balance between aggressive styling, good treadwear life, and low road noise, Toyo Tires introduces its new Open Country R/T tire for SUVs and light trucks.
The Open Country R/T slots between the more aggressive Open Country M/T and Toyo’s best-selling truck and SUV tire, the Open Country A/T II. The Open Country M/T comes with a 45,000-mile treadwear warranty, and Toyo’s “No Regrets” 45-day/500-mile trial offer. The Open Country R/T is American-made in Toyo’s state-of-the-art factory in White, Georgia. The tire features high turn-up three-ply polyester casing, two spiral cap plies, and wide shoulder grooves, mud biting blocks, and stone and mud ejectors.
Customers can further customize the look by selecting one of two distinctive sidewall designs on the omni-directional tire. Eight popular sizes will be available at launch, including LT285/70R-17, 33x12.50R-18LT, and all the way up to a maximum size of 37x12.50R-20LT. Additional sizes will be added in early 2015.
