2015 Ford F-150 Gets Into the "Haul-O-Ween" Spirit - Video
Pickup Serves as Pumpkin's Coach
It’s that time of year when pumpkins start showing up on everything. Colder climates start guzzling pumpkin-flavored coffee by the gallon, Instagram feeds get clogged with kids carving jack-o’-lanterns, and now, the orange gourds are even making appearances in pickup trucks on YouTube.
To celebrate “Haul-O-Ween,” Ford is showing off a video of its 2015 F-150 SuperCrew lugging around a positively massive pumpkin. The huge gourd, which was grown by Harnica Kids Pumpkin Farm, weighs about 1200 pounds and has to be loaded into the F-150’s aluminum bed with a forklift, but safely secured, the Ford should have no trouble with its delicate cargo.
“Transporting giant pumpkins down the road is one of the biggest high points,” said John Harnica, who grew the pumpkin. He says he loves seeing people pull up, take photos, wave, and give thumbs up as he drives his produce around. “It always makes me feel real good.”
The F-150’s max rated payload is 3300 pounds, meaning the new truck could haul almost three giant pumpkins if they could fit in the bed. That payload rating, as we’ve reported, is better than any other 1/2-ton truck on the road today.
