2016 Nissan Titan Teased Ahead of Official Debut
Details Shots of Brakes, Frame, and Engine Shown
We’re still not privy to the official technical details of the 2016 Nissan Titan and its highly anticipated Cummins diesel V-8 option, but that hasn’t stopped Nissan from milking its prolonged tease by showing us some snapshots of the new truck. The tease can be seen on the landing page of Nissan’s U.S. consumer site, nissanusa.com. Clicking on the slide brings up a four-image slideshow with a photo of the brakes, a couple of different angles of the new Cummins engine, and a new stylized “T” that will presumably be the truck’s new logo.
The official debut date for the new truck is January 12, the first day of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Officially, little is known about the truck, but rumors abound, including the positioning of the diesel-powered Titan as an in-betweener positioned between the traditional 1/2-ton and HD segments, with payload and towing capacities that lean more in the latter’s direction, meaning a possible payload capacity of more than 3,000 pounds and a towing capacity of between 12,000 and 14,000 pounds. Output specs for the 5.0L Cummins ISV are also unknown, beyond the previously announced “more than 300 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.” Stay tuned to Truck Trend for a detailed deep-dive into Nissan’s new fullsize on Monday.
