Ford Teams Up with Revell for Scale Model Giveaway at Show
The Ford F-150 Raptor is one of the most-licensed toys in Ford Motor Company history, and it looks like Ford wants to continue to maintain that reputation with the new model. To help stoke interest in its new off-road hero with a younger (and young at heart) demographic, Ford is teaming up with scale model maker Revell to give away 20-piece SnapTite kits of its forthcoming truck.
While the real 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor doesn’t go into production or on sale until fall 2016, the scale model will be given away at the Ford booth at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show now through January 25. The SnapTite Raptor toy model will not be available through retail toy outlets until June.
The Raptor follows up on another successful collaboration between the two companies, with the 2015 Mustang SnapTite kit being Revell’s best-selling model in 2014. The SnapTite car kits are glueless 1/25-scale models consisting of between 12 and 20 snap-together pieces that kids ages 8 and older can put together without the complexity or toxicity of model glue or paint. Retail prices for SnapTite kits are in the $10-20 range.
