Mercedes-Benz Releases Video of G500 4x4-2
Video Showcases Water Fording Ability, Epic Ground Clearance
The Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4-2 has certainly gotten the attention of the off-road enthusiast community with its epic 17.7 inches of ground clearance, more than 3 feet of water fording capability, and 47-degree breakover angle. To titillate us even further, Mercedes-Benz just released this video on YouTube showing the 4x4-2 in action.
Naturally, the scene starts out in a rocky, desolate mountain range. The G500 suddenly emerges from a dark cave and commences driving through streams, bounding over rocks, and tearing up dirt trails. It’s also show catching a little air going over a rise. After that, there’s the expected gratuitous mud play and splashing water before it heads back out onto pavement.
The G500 4x42 isn’t even officially confirmed yet for production, but you can bet that even at its expected $200,000-plus price tag, there would be plenty of well-heeled buyers ready to buy one immediately. Another indication of production intent is a press launch in Granada, Spain, where select international automotive journalists (unfortunately, not including us) were invited to drive the high-riding beast. An official production announcement could be forthcoming at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Although its six-figure price puts it well out of reach of most buyers, it definitely makes it on to our “lottery list” of most-wanted 4x4s.
