Mini-Campin’: Honda Shows Pint-Sized N-Truck/N-Camp Concept
Kei-Car Truck and Trailer Combo Packs Style in Small Package
Many of us may aspire to own a gleaming Airstream travel trailer or have a diesel pusher RV to explore America’s wide-open spaces. Well, wide-open spaces of any kind in Japan are a precious luxury, and space is frequently at a premium. That’s why you sometimes see such bizarre creations as a camper shell designed to fit on the back of a Prius (no, we’re not kidding), but it also results in such awesomely creative concepts as the Honda N-Truck/N-Camp.
Although the front part of the trailer overhangs the N-Truck’s miniscule bed, the trailer is actually attached by a conventional hitch. The interior of the trailer is surprisingly stylish and functional, with a fold-out table surface, some modern green velour chairs, and shag beige carpeting. The walls are wood grain modular slats that look like they’re designed to accommodate various clip-on accessories. As cool as it looks, we’re not sure we’d want to go on a month-long road trip in this rig, but it looks like it would be a great paddock trailer on track day or a fun pre-game tailgate party hangout. The chances of us seeing the N-Truck/N-Camp in the U.S. are absolute zero, and the odds of it going into production even in Japan are unlikely. Nevertheless, we think it’s cool that Honda designers imagined something with style and purpose for Japan’s densely packed infrastructure.
