Nissan Showcases Eco-Friendly Tailgating with Electric NV200 Concept
Custom Van Features Electric Grill, Mosquito Repellent, “Selphie” Camera
Generally speaking, when you think of tailgating and grilling, you’re thinking about a pickup, an old-school charcoal-burning Weber, or a smoker trailer. But Nissan has a slightly different idea about grilling on the go. The company chose its electric NV200 van as a showcase for its eco-friendly outdoor entertaining and dining concept with its “Ultimate Smart BBQ Vehicle.”
The first component is naturally the grill, which is a 1,500-watt electric grill, complete with a rotisserie attachment. Of course, whenever you’re outdoors and have food around, you’re going to attract mosquitos—but don’t fear, because Nissan has that covered with an ultrasonic repellent system. After a few cold Sapporo Ichibans have stripped you and your friends of inhibitions, you can take “selphie” photos with a remote-control camera drone. A few more tall cold ones, and you might be ready for some karaoke action. Once again, Nissan has you covered with a built-in karaoke machine.
While it might not exactly fit the traditional American concept of grilling and tailgating, we’ve got to appreciate the innovative and clever packaging. The eNV200 is on sale in Europe and Japan, but no official plans have been announced to bring it to the U.S. So maybe a “Titan Tailgater” for us?
