Radar Love: Red Leather Seats Now Available on Dodge Durango R/T
First shown at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas, Dodge will offer Radar Red Nappa leather seats on the 2015 Durango R/T. Befitting that SUV’s sporty image, the 2015 R/T will also get a new design for its standard 20-inch wheels, done in a high-gloss dark finish Dodge calls Granite Crystal.
The Radar Red seating, formerly only available on the Charger and Challenger, comes as part of the Premium Nappa Leather Group. That option package also includes power ventilated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high beams, and leather trim for the armrests, steering wheel, and door panels. The Durango R/T comes standard with a 5.7L Hemi V-8 that produces 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, and a monochromatic exterior package replaces lots of the Durango’s chrome with body-color accents and black headlamp bezels.
That V-8, paired with the eight-speed automatic that comes standard across the SUV’s lineup, helps the Durango tow a maximum load of 7,400 pounds, which Dodge claims is best in its class. The Durango is one of the only three-row crossover SUVs available with a V-8 on the market today, but it’s somewhat special in its competitive set. Although it shares its unibody construction and four-wheel independent suspension with other CUVs, the Durango’s platform is rear-wheel-drive–based, imbuing it with more off-road and towing performance than most of its competitors.
And let’s be honest, the Durango R/T is one of the coolest-looking sport utes out there. With those new red leather seats and black-painted wheels, its factory-hot-rod looks only get better.
