Chevrolet Expands Custom Sport Package to Silverado HD
Appearance Package Debuts Today at Denver Auto Show
The Chevrolet Silverado’s 1960s-inspired Custom Sport package is expanding to the model’s 2500 HD and 3500 HD brethren, giving the bigger trucks some of the same appearance enhancements as their 1/2-ton stablemate.
As on the 1500, the Custom Sport package for the HD truck encompasses body-color front and rear bumpers, a body-color grille with chrome accent bars, chrome door handles, and chrome body-side moldings. Additionally, the bigger pickup’s trailering mirrors get chrome mirror caps.
All Silverado Custom Sport HDs get polished aluminum wheels, sized at 20 inches for the 2500, 18 inches for the 3500 with single rear wheels, and 17 inches for the 3500 with dual rear wheels. The package will be available on the LT or LTZ model designation, priced from $700 to $1,695. As with the Silverado 1500 Custom Sport, the Custom Sport HD will only be available in Summit White or Black.
The Custom Sport HD is the fifth special Silverado this year, joining the Custom, Custom Sport, Midnight, and Blackout. Last year’s Silverado Rally Edition comes on board to bring the list of unique Silverado option packages to six. As with most of the others, the Custom Sport HD basically amounts to a unique set of wheels and exterior accents, but many truck customers option their pickups that way anyway, and the option package saves money over ordering the fancy bits individually.
