Hennessey VelociRaptor Featured In Latest Issue of Top Gear Magazine
“Extreme Machines” Issue Also Features G-Wagen 4x4-2, Range Rover Sport SVR
The Brits, and especially the staff of Top Gear show, seem to have a love-hate relationship with American fullsize trucks, with Jeremy Clarkson famously calling the 2004 Ford F-150 Lightning “rubbish.” More recently, however, Clarkson drove Hennessey’s supercharged VelociRaptor based on the 2011-2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and seemed to enjoy it while making an unhurried attempt to rescue co-host Richard Hammond off the top of a snowy mountain in Canada.
Evidently, the Top Gear editors thought highly enough of Hennessey’s hot-rodded pickup to put it on the cover of its May 2015 issue, along with the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen 4x4-2 with portal axles and the Range Rover Sport SVR. Other non-truck vehicles featured include the Porsche Cayman GT4, Ken Block’s “Hoonicorn” Mustang, and the Ferrari FXXK.
Hennessey recently showed a rendering of the new VelociRaptor, based on the newly introduced aluminum body Ford F-150. However, the next generation of the factory Raptor is coming soon enough as a 2017 model, powered by a high-output EcoBoost V-6.
