Make Your Own Ford F-150 Raptor at Home!
Ford Lets Truck Fans Print 3D Models at Home
The Ford F-150 Raptor is one of the most sought-after trucks in the market today. Who among us wouldn’t like to park on in our driveway? But with a $45,000-plus price tag (and often much more once dealer markups are added), not all of us have the means to buy one. If you’re content with a homemade replica, Ford has something for you. However, there is one small catch. You have to have your own 3D printer. If you don’t have your own 3D printer, you’re not totally out of luck, as you can buy professionally “printed” models at Ford’s store through TurboSquid, ranging in price from $75 to $199.
More than 1,000 3D image files are available of various Ford models, including classics like the F-100, Super Duty, 2015 F-150, Model T, Model A, and even a 1932 “Deuce Coupe” street rod. Ford claims its selection of downloadable 3D files and scale models is the first officially licensed automotive OE collection.
Depending on the level of sophistication of the 3D printer, different colors, textures, and even metal can be part of the finished product. The only caveat on the use of the files is that they cannot be re-sold for commercial purposes, which users agree to when registering on the site.
