Video: Bryce Menzies Shares Experience of Pre-Running Baja 500
Appreciation of Natural Beauty, Importance of Team Members, Tires
Bryce Menzies may only be 28 years old, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of the most formidable competitors in the Baja 500 and 1000 off-road desert races, as well as the SCORE, TORC and CORR series. His love of the desert and racing dates back to his trips down to Baja with his dad as a teenager riding dirt bikes.
In a YouTube video, Menzies shares some of his experiences of pre-running the course with his co-driver Pete Mortenson. Mortenson’s support is critical to Menzies in the pre-run stage, with his mechanical knowledge of the truck, and willingness to pre-run the entire course.
Of course, one of the most critical components in any kind of motorsports are the tires, and Menzies has been with BF Goodrich since the beginning, noting the willingness of the company to take his feedback into consideration to design a better product. Ahead of this weekend’s Baja 500 race, Menzies is running BF Goodrich’s All-Terrain T/A KO2 off-road tires, a DOT-approved tire that you can buy for your own truck. Even in the punishing conditions of off-road racing, Menzies says after 200-300 miles, the tires often show barely any signs of wear. You can watch the video below.
