2016 Nissan Titan XD Gets Preferred Parking At Titans’ Stadium
New Truck To Sit Atop Stadium Ahead of Rams’ Pre-Season Game
The trend of corporate-named sports venues is nothing new, but Nissan is taking the concept of product placement to a whole new level ahead of this weekend’s pre-season game between the Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams. To showcase its new 2016 Titan XD fullsize truck, Nissan is hoisting one up next to the video scoreboard at the newly named Nissan Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Titans football team. The truck will be a permanent fixture during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
The partnership between Nissan and the Titans seems natural, with the brand’s eponymous new truck fitting well with some of the same attributes of professional football: competitiveness, athleticism, strength, and confidence. You can be sure this won’t be the first cobranded promotional event between the football team and the new truck.
The game will be somewhat of a grudge match between the Rams and the Titans, with the Rams defeating the Titans at Super Bowl XXXIV in 1999, 23 to 16. The Titans are likely hoping the new truck will be a good omen and bring them a home field advantage to avenge their Super Bowl loss 16 years earlier. More recently, the Titans have taken the win over the Rams in 2009 and 2013 during season play.
