2016 Ram ProMaster Adds Chrome Grille, Full Windows
Changes In Response To Commercial Customer Feedback
With the Fiat Ducato-based Ram ProMaster, FCA’s commercial and truck brand has taken a decidedly different approach than many of its competitors. Whereas you can option out a Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Nissan NV3500 from the factory with rear seats, the ProMaster is available from the factory solely with a front driver and passenger seat for now. However, there are upfit accommodations for rear seats, which have prompted the aftermarket to build some passenger vans and shuttle conversions from the platform. The ProMaster is also the only model in its class in the U.S. to be front-wheel-drive.
For 2016, Ram has responded to customer and upfitter requests to offer a full-glass version of the long-wheelbase high-roof ProMaster, as well as an available chrome grille to make the admittedly homely ProMaster at least a little classier. In addition, the 2016 model features an upgraded, higher-capacity auxiliary electrical system with a second battery at the rear of the van and 20-amp auxiliary switches accessible from the dash panel. The Fiat Ducato is offered in a passenger configuration from the factory in Europe. Ram has alluded to eventually offering a factory passenger version of the ProMaster, but for the time being, passenger configurations will be the exclusive domain of aftermarket upfitters.
