Hennessey Himself Struts VelociRaptor 600 Ford F-150 in Video
With more than 600 horses coming from its supercharged 5.0L V-8, you’d expect the Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 to be quick. Well, John Hennessey himself is keen to show interested parties exactly how quick in a new video released by the company.
After laying down a lurid burnout, off-road tires howling in protest, Hennessey launches the 2015 F-150–based VelociRaptor down the company’s closed course. With about 200 horses more than a stock F-150 FX4 4x4 (upon which all 2015 and 2016 VelociRaptors are based), the Hennessey effortlessly builds speed. Although we’ve already learned a good deal about the VelociRaptor 600, what Hennessey’s earlier releases didn’t indicate was how great the truck sounds.
The 2.9L supercharger’s whine sounds appropriately sporty, and it imbues the F-150 with 538 dyno-verified rear-wheel horsepower, indicating at least 600 hp at the engine crank. The dyno video shows an F-150 Platinum with an “HPE 600” badge, which makes us suspect that the company may soon offer an on-road–oriented performance package.
Check out both videos, and if you like what you see (and hear), start scrounging for loose change. A 2015 VelociRaptor 600 will cost its owner $73,500, which includes the base F-150 FX4 with the 5.0L V-8.
