Jeep Shows Wrangler, Cherokee, Renegade Concepts in Frankfurt

Concepts Show International Appeal of the Quintessential American Brand

Sep 15, 2015
When one thinks of quintessentially “American” car brands, three in particular spring to mind almost immediately: Chevrolet, Ford, and Jeep. For Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the company’s brand ambassador of its American flavor is, without a doubt, Jeep. With production of its vehicles in China, Italy, and of course, the U.S., Jeep is becoming increasingly international, but the flavor of the brand remains unmistakably American. Jeep didn’t miss its chance to bring some Yankee swagger to the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, showing off three concepts featuring Mopar accessories: the Jeep Cherokee KrawLer, the Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser, and the Renegade Trailhawk.
Jeep Cherokee KrawLer
The name of the Cherokee KrawLer concept was inspired by its chassis codename, “KL.” The KrawLer features a special off-road suspension, BFGoodrich KM2 255/80/17 off-road tires, widened fenders, skid plates, and rock rails. The exterior is painted a military-inspired matte green with grey accents. The powertrain is the familiar 3.2L Pentastar V-6 with the nine-speed automatic and Jeep “Active Drive Lock” with low range and a locking rear differential.
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser
Sure to make American Wrangler fans jealous, the Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser concept is powered by the 2.8L I-4 diesel that was briefly seen in the Liberty in the U.S. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Other highlights of the Sunriser include beadlock wheels, an engine skid plate, matte-orange paint, Mopar bumpers with double tow hooks, a 4-inch suspension lift, half-doors, LED lights between the A-pillar and winshield, LED daytime running lights and taillights, and a black leather interior with fluorescent orange trim.
Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
The Trailhawk is a trim currently offered on the Renegade; however, Jeep decided to kick things up a notch in Frankfurt with special 17-inch alloy wheels, underbody skid plates, dual rear tow hooks, and black mirror caps. On the inside, the treatment includes sport pedals and special floormats.
