FCA Recalls 2015 Ram, Jeep Cherokee Models
Ram Axles, Cherokee Air Conditioning Affected
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced two voluntary recalls today. One involves 2015-2016 Ram 1500 pickup axles, and the other involves the air conditioning system on 2015 Jeep Cherokees. The Ram recall covers 65,760 U.S.-market pickups. The rear axles on the affected trucks may have not undergone the proper heat-treatment procedure, which could result in increased wear and overheating. In a worst-case scenario, this could lead to component fracture and wheel separation. An estimated 16,647 models in Canada, 1,924 in Mexico, and 1,715 outside of the NAFTA region are affected.
An estimated 75,364 2015 Jeep Cherokee models in the U.S. are being recalled for an air conditioning line that runs too close to the exhaust manifold, potentially increasing the risk of fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received two complaints of smoke and fire related to the components in question. An additional 7,571 units in Canada, 4,018 in Mexico, and 6,942 outside the NAFTA region are also affected.
Affected owners will receive a mailed notice of availability of parts to perform the recall repair. Customers can also call FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403 or visit recalls.mopar.com and enter their vehicle identification number (VIN) to check to see if their vehicle is affected.
