Mainstream Midsizers Get An Attitude Adjustment

Oct 13, 2015
The Ford Explorer and Edge are popular fixtures in the midsize SUV market and strong sellers for Ford. Neither model is particularly considered a popular “tuner” platform, but if there’s one venue you can get away with transforming otherwise mundane suburban haulers into sweet rides, it’s the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. This year, Ford will be showcasing four Explorer and three Edge SUVs to showcase the artistic visions of different aftermarket shops.
All Star Performance Explorer Sport
All Star Performance adds its custom touch to the Explorer Sport with a Magnaflow performance exhaust, Vortech front-mount intercooler, a Traxda 2.5-inch lift kit with Toyo A/T II 305/50R-20 tires on ADV.1 wheels, and Baer brakes. The exterior highlights are a Thule Canyon roof basket, Wurton LED front and rear lightbars, and a Axalta custom paint. On the inside is a custom suede/leather uplostery treatment, and Sony component speakers and amplifiers.

The Explorer is lowered on Toyo Proxes ST II 295/30ZR-24 tires on Triumph Forged 24-inch wheels. An Axalta Burnt Orange Metallic paintjob was applied by LGE*CTS Motorsports in San Dimas, California. Adding further attitude to the exterior is a Nord carbon fiber roof cargo box, carbon fiber fender flares by Rideskinz, DinMann carbon-fiber body cladding, custom LED headlights, and Diode Dynamics LED light modules. On the inside, the SUV gets a custom leather interior and CT Sounds audio system.
