Ford Rolls Out Commercial Featuring F-150 Pro Trailer Backup Assist
New Ad Keeps Visibility Up on Best-Selling Truck
The 2016 Ford F-150 may not be “all-new” anymore, with that distinction going to our 2015 Pickup Truck of the Year. However, that doesn’t mean that Ford is standing still letting competitors eat its lunch. One of the major upgrades for the new model year was the introduction of Pro Trailer Backup Assist, allowing for more precise control and placement of a trailer when in reverse. The 30-second spot, entitled “Brainstorm,” makes its national broadcast debut this upcoming Thanksgiving day.
Ford has promoted many of the new F-150s attributes in a series of TV spots, including “Wake Up Call” in which the advantages of the truck’s aluminum body are extolled; “Battle-Tested” highlighting the truck’s safety ratings; and now “Brainstorm” which focuses on the Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The spot was filmed using actual footage of drivers using the feature, utilizing live-action and stop-motion animation, rather than computer-generated simulations, giving added authenticity to the usefulness of the feature, Ford claims.
The F-150 ad campaign spots are being prominently featured on the different channels of the Fox network, with special emphasis on the sports channels, which target the F-150’s core buyer demographic. Expect more F-150 spots in the new year as new and refreshed rivals enter the fullsize market.
