Kid Rock Gives Some Attitude to “Born Free” Silverado HD
Patriotic-Themed Truck a Tribute to America’s Working Class
Kid Rock is a well-known fan and advocate for his home state of Michigan, and the rocker’s creative vision for this project 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD was partially inspired by his visit to General Motors’ Flint, Michigan, factory where the HD trucks are built. Among the custom touches on the truck are a custom chrome grille (featuring the signature “Born Free” logo), an enlarged Chevy bow-tie logo, and chrome exhaust stacks. Patriotic graphics adorn the exterior of the truck. Other exterior details include custom black metallic paint, 22-inch chrome wheels, tinted windows, chrome assist steps, and a spray-in bedliner.
On the inside, the truck gets Sky Cool Gray leather seats with special inserts inspired by acid-wash jeans. Black carpeted floor liners, a blacked-out instrument panel with silver trim, “Made in Detroit” logo sill plates and glove box emblem, and a custom Kicker audio system round out the interior details. Appropriate for a 1-ton dually truck, the Born Free Silverado 3500 HD is towing a pair of Gibbs Quadskis, the revolutionary new recreational toy that converts from an off-road vehicle to a personal watercraft. The Born Free Silverado joins two other custom Silverado models and a Colorado at the SEMA Show.
