Ford Partners With Thor For Licensed Aluminum Trailers, Toy Haulers
Unique Designs to Debut in 2016
You may have seen those Firestone commercials urging you to do “truck stuff,” namely flinging a bunch of mud and doing other off-road stunts. However, in the real world, one of the major activities facilitated by trucks is recreational camping. For die-hard Ford fans, there’s now a new option. Ford has partnered with Thor Industries and its division Livin Lite, a specialty manufacturer or aluminum trailers, to build a collection of licensed aluminum slide-in campers, travel trailers, and toy haulers that will be available in the first and second quarters of 2016.
First out will be slide-in camper units for trucks with 6 and 8-foot beds, available in the first quarter of 2016. Shortly thereafter, 22 and 24-foot travel trailers and toy haulers will be offered. Later on, fifth-wheel and pop-up trailer variants are planned. The trailers and campers feature Ford logo branding, and unique design elements inspired by the F-Series trucks such as a unique front window, and alloy wheels. The interiors also feature Ford logo stitching on the seating. Considering Ford’s truck lineup will soon be all-aluminum with the 2017 Super Duty, the fit seems natural. The Ford-licensed campers, travel trailers, and toy haulers will be available through authorized Livin Lite dealers in 2016.
