Alliance AutoGas Does Live F-150 Propane Conversion at Work Truck Show
Gasoline-to-Propane Sprint Takes Expert Techs 90 Minutes
Alliance AutoGas broke the record for “Fastest Recorded Alternative Fuel Conversion” at the 2016 Work Truck Show, getting a new Ford F-150 propane-ready in just an hour and 32 minutes. The feat was the result of two technicians’ expert wrenching in and around the truck to convert it to propane autogas on March 3.
“The live, record-setting conversion of the F-150 at the Work Truck Show proved that Alliance’s EPA and NFPA 58 compliant system can indeed be installed in far less than half the time of other products in the market without any permanent vehicle modifications,” said Ed Hoffman, the president of Blossman Services, Inc., Alliance AutoGas’ equipment distributor.
Helping speed conversion is the Alliance system’s single wiring connector and easily installed 21-gallon underbody tank. The system can also be installed without needing any drilling or fabrication, easing the process. Alliance AutoGas showed off a 3.7L V-6–powered Ford Transit at last year's show that had the same benefits.
Technicians Stephen Holland, pictured here on the left, and Stacey Snyder beat Alliance’s pre-show conversion-time estimate of two hours. The fruit of their labors is going on a 5,300-mile road trip across the country to publicize the company’s efforts.
Alliance’s project F-150 featured a slick matte vehicle wrap, aggressive BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, and a rugged rooftop basket. As a mobile billboard for the company, its understated good looks will do just fine.
