More Decal: 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition Unveiled
Latest Update Adds Black Accent Stripes
Chevrolet seems to have discovered the magic formula for selling more trucks. Luckily for the company, it requires minimal mechanical changes. Yep, the Bow Tie boys have taken a page out of the Mopar playbook with “special-edition” models with body-matching grilles, black paintjobs, “sport” bars, and various other gingerbread to appeal to the different subsets of truck buyers. The latest addition to the stable is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Rally Edition. This is not the first year of the Rally Edition, with the trim first unveiled for 2015. This year, the graphics scheme on the Rally edition is changed up to add accent stripes on the doors and bedside.
To whip up interest in its special editions, Chevrolet is employing the star power of some of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. campaigning the Rally Edition, Austin Dillon hawking the outdoor-oriented Realtree Edition, and Kyle Larson and Kasey Kahne putting their star power behind the Silverado 1500 and 2500 Midnight Editions, respectively. The trucks and drivers will be at the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.
The Rally Edition is aimed at the street truck crowd, while the Realtree and Midnight editions get the Z71 hardware, including Rancho monotube shocks, locking rear differential, transfer case shield, hill descent control, and more aggressive all-terrain tires. The trucks will be available at dealers starting this month.
