Ram Offers Limited-Edition 1500 Sport in Stinger Yellow
Paint-and-Tape Package Brings Fiery Appearance to Hemi-Powered 1500
Remember the second-generation Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, which was available in a retina searing Solar Yellow? Ram Trucks might be channeling that old pickup with the newest limited-edition Ram 1500 Sport, painted a similarly luminous Stinger Yellow.
The Stinger Yellow 1500 Sport comes in the same color as the recent Ram 1500 Yellow Rose of Texas edition, but it’s there that similarities end. With a body-color grille, humpers, door handles, and side mirrors, the 1500 Sport cuts the mustard much more extensively, while standard 22-inch wheels impart an aggressive stance (the 4x4 will get more off-roadable 20-inchers as standard). The Sport’s signature vented hood gets matte-black accents, giving the whole truck a slightly 1970s vibe, furthered by the hot-rod 395hp 5.7L Hemi under those graphics.
Ram added the sunny color to the interior of the truck as well, which features a predominantly black palette, highlighted by black chrome accents and body-color seat stitching. Yellow also shows up in the ram’s-head embroidery on the headrests and mesh seat accents. Navigation comes standard on the Stinger Yellow special edition.
“The Ram 1500 Sport offers unique features for customers who enjoy aggressive styling and great performance,” said Mike Manley, Ram brand chief. “The Stinger Yellow Sport model adds a custom appearance to the segment’s best-looking truck.”
While that last statement is a matter of opinion, it’s not one we’re going to argue too hard. We’ve long been fans of the Ram’s big-rig look, thanks to its stepped fenders and proud, upright grille. The monochrome appearance of the Sport trim level looks great, and the new availability of Stinger Yellow gives us plenty of late-1990s nostalgia for those first Ram Sports.
