Find of the Week: Nearly Original 1968 Chevrolet K-10 Short Bed 4x4 Manual
This solid-axle Chevy resides in California
There is something about a classic single-cab short bed pickup with a V-8 that reminds us of a simpler time, and this 1968 Chevy C-10 4x4 short-bed pickup has us wearing rose-colored glasses. The guys from Bring A Trailer found this nearly original pickup for sale on eBay, and after getting all the details, it’s taking all our will to not leave the office and drive this pickup home today.
Residing in Pasadena, California, its entire life, this desirable single-cab fleet-side short-bed pickup packs more than just the right wheelbase. Two solid axles underneath let us know she can tackle the street and the trails. An untouched drivetrain with a pre-smog 327ci V-8 backed by a four-speed manual mean grabbing gears in 2HI and 4LO.
The best part of this truck is there is absolutely no rust and the paint is almost all original from the factory. The grille and front bumper have been resprayed, but the body is all GM. A camper once covered the bed, protecting the bed floor from damage, but created some minor wear along the bed rails and back of the cab, and with only a couple of dents on the fender and bedside, it’s in very good shape for being nearly half a century old.
The interior is a time capsule, with the factory bench in showroom condition. The simple dash with mint-condition gauges and those shifters sticking out of the transmission tunnel, it’s like looking back on a beautiful memory.
According to the seller, this is one rare pickup, as only 1449 short bed fleet-side 4x4 trucks were built in 1968 and of those, only 327 came with a four-speed. This rarity doesn’t come cheap: it’s currently going for just over $19,000 on eBay. Its no small chunk of change, but when was the last time you came across a nearly factory 4x4 short-bed C-10 pickup?
