Behind the Scenes: How Ford Tested for Campers
Here’s a secret you may not know: To test out the ’17 Ford Super Duty in a way you (the customer) would use it, Ford built a custom slide-in camper simulator that would mimic the rise in the truck’s center of gravity, as if the customer had added a big camper. This took place at Ford’s Arizona Proving Grounds; the simulator is equal to a camper weighing 7,500 pounds (i.e. filled with your water, gear, fuel, and more). To check stability and roll, it went through maneuvers such as slalom and high-speed lane changes, and engineers monitored 10 sensors to ensure the Super Duty would be capable.

Best Truck? Ram, Says Popular Mechanics
The 2016 Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence awards winners have been named, and among the categories was Best Truck, which went to Ram. “Top to bottom, this is the model to beat,” the magazine noted. The HDs were praised for their smooth ride, loads of torque, and optional air suspension at the rear. “No, the Ram isn’t perfect—the fancy Laramie Longhorn interiors exhibit the aesthetic sensibility of a Reno whorehouse circa 1895—but in terms of fearless ambition and overall goodness, the striver makes a compelling case. You ought to hear it out,” according to Popular Mechanics.
Bosch, Cummins Asked for Retrofit Tech in India
The Economic Times reported that Bosch and Cummins have been asked to provide retrofit technology for converting older diesel vehicles to electronic vehicles in India. Once the tech is available in India, the transport ministry will create an entire retrofitting policy. Due to high pollution levels, the Supreme Court banned the sales of diesel vehicles sporting more than 2,000 cc and diesel taxis in Delhi. The higher polluters are what are being most targeted for conversions.
