New Edelbrock Cross-Ram Gen IV Intake Makes Your Engine Look Like a Ferrari
Dual Throttle Body Intake Gives Exotic Look to Gen-IV LS
We’re inundated daily with press releases for all sorts of parts and accessories. Most we just set aside or put in the “to do” pile for new products, but this one got our attention. It’s Edelbrock’s new LS3 cross-ram intake manifold for fourth-generation GM small-block V-8 engines. It is designed to fit on the fourth-generation LS3, L92 (6.2L), and L76 (6.0L) engines. The dual throttle-body design is engineered to accept two 90-millimeter throttle bodies and is ideally suited for twin-turbo race setups.
The available finishes are a red or black powdercoat for the plenums and a light silver finish on the runners. Unfortunately, like so many cool hot-rod parts, the cross-ram intakes are for “off-road use only” in California, meaning don’t expect to roll into the Star smog station and walk out with a certificate with one of these on your engine. But if you drive a smog-exempt pre-1976 car or truck or live in a state with laissez-faire smog testing requirements, this is one head-turning modification that will give your all-American V-8 a dash of Italianesque style.
Dyno testing showed as much as a 27 hp and 28 lb-ft gain over a conventional single throttle body manifold. Edelbrock also offers an accompanying fuel rail kit for high-performance custom applications. Even if it only made 5 more horsepower, it’s almost worth it for the looks alone. However, this style doesn’t come cheap. The manifold retails for just under $1,300.
