2013 Acura RDX Named a "Top Safety Pick" by IIHS
Redesigned SUV Gets 'Good' Ratings Across-the-Board
In today's automotive market, safety sells, which makes the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's "Top Safety Pick" designation one of the more coveted ones out there. The Acura RDX joins that class with the 2013 model, which earned "Good" ratings in all six categories. For comparison, the 2012 RDX earned a Good rating in five out of the six categories, scoring Acceptable in the Leg/Foot Right category.
Other small to midsize luxury SUVs to earn the Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS are the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Infiniti EX35, and Lexus RX. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK and Audi Q5 earned an overall Good rating, but got an Acceptable rating in the Leg/Foot Right category.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet tested or released crash test results for the 2013 RDX. The 2012 RDX received and 4-star rollover rating in NHTSA testing, and received a 5-star rating in all other categories for the 2010 model tested by the agency.
