Toyota Previews SEMA Show Trucks, SUVs
Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, and RAV4 Get Custom Treatment
It's that time of the year again when all the major manufacturers and accessory companies convene in Las Vegas to show their custom creativity, and Toyota has just released photos and details of the vehicles it will have on display at the show. All the vehicles reflect Toyota's sponsorship of action sports figures. Below is a sneak peak of what will be on display in Vegas.
"Let's Go Moto" 2014 Toyota Tundra CrewMax
This custom Tundra showcases Toyota's sponsorship of Motocross, with input from Motocross stars Josh Grand and Justin Brayton, and is built of a Tundra CrewMax with a custom 8-foot bed attached designed to hold a motocross bike, and features three TV screens, a refrigerator, power washer, helmet dryer, and integrated toolbox, hydrogen tanks, and gear storage. To give it the appropriate attitude for motocross, the truck received a 12-inch lift.
DC Shoes 2014 Toyota Tacoma
Showcasing Toyota's support of winter sports, the company teamed up with DC Shoes and Camburg engineering to build this snow-ready Tacoma. The front features a snowplow to clear the roads for winter action, and a telescoping ramp allowing a snowmobile to be driven into the bed. To stay close to the powder-shredding action, a roof-mounted pop-up tent allows thrill junkies to sleep where they play, and a 40-inch LED light bar ensures the fun can continue into the night. Inside, the Tacoma features an integrated iPad mini and all-weather Scoshe speakers.
"Ultimate Dream Ski" 2014 Toyota 4Runner
Toyota teamed up with freestyle ski star Simon Dumont and outdoor gear manufacturer Oakley to build the Ultimate Dream Ski 4Runner, built by Herbst Smith Fabrication in Huntington Beach, California. The SUV features an Oakley camouflage vehicle wrap, LED lighting, and a metal roof rack that electronically lowers to store two sets of skis. Three iPads control the doors, windows, and entertainment options, and a built-in coffeemaker, glove and boot dryer, and mountable rear grille are just the ticket to unwind after an action-packed day on the slopes.
LifeTime Fitness 2013 Toyota RAV4
Toyota-sponsored triathletes Sarah Haskins, Andy Potts, and Hunter Kemper teamed up to help create a RAV4 geared toward the needs of triathlon competitors. The vehicle features a hot water shower with a 5-gallon fresh water tank and a spin dryer and gear storage compartments in the rear cargo area. After an exhausting competition, the front seat offers a shiatsu massage function, while a Blendtec blender is on-board to make nutritious recovery drinks. A custom roof rack holds two bicycles.
All four vehicles are part of this year's Toyota Dream Build Challenge. Fans can vote on their favorite at www.toyotadreambuild.com until November 4. The winner will be announced by "Top Gear USA" co-host Rutledge Wood on November 5 at the SEMA Show.
