Dimensions: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado vs. Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma

Jason UdyNov 22, 2013
The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado signals GM’s return to the midsize truck market to challenge the long-lasting -- and long-in-the-tooth -- Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. While no longer compacts, the Frontier and Tacoma are noticeably smaller than full-size pickups. With only basic 2015 Chevrolet Colorado dimensions known so far, here is a look at how the 2015 Colorado compares to the Japanese midsize truck stalwarts.
Length

While the Tacoma is available in regular, extended, and crew cab versions, a standard cab version isn’t available on the Frontier or Colorado, though the extended cab Colorado is available with a rear seat delete option. The 208.2-inch long Colorado extended cab comes only with a six-foot bed and rides on a 127.9-inch wheelbase. In comparison, the Frontier extended cab with a six-foot bed has a 125.9-inch wheelbase and 205.5-inch overall length, while the Toyota Tacoma extended cab with a short bed has a 127.4-inch wheelbase and is 208.1 inches long overall.
With a 128.3-inch wheelbase, the Colorado crew cab with a five-foot bed is 212.3 inches long overall. The Frontier crew cab with a short bed has the same wheelbase and overall length as its extended cab counterpart with a six-foot bed, at 125.9/205.5 inches for the wheelbase/overall length. When the Colorado is equipped as a crew cab with a longer six-foot bed, the Chevrolet rides on a 140.5-inch wheelbase and is 224.1 inches long overall. In comparison, the Frontier crew cab with a 73.3-inch bed has a 139.9-inch wheelbase and is 219.4 inches long overall. The Toyota Tacoma crew cab with a 73.5-inch bed is 221.3 inches long with a 140.6-inch wheelbase.
Width and Height

The Colorado is 74.3 inches wide and 70.5 to 70.6 inches high, while the Frontier is 72.8 inches wide and 68.7 to 70.1 inches tall (without a roof rack), and the Tacoma is 72.2 to 74.6 inches wide and 66.1 to 70.3 inches tall.
While the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is slightly larger than the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma in all but a few dimensions, GM has built a new midsize pickup that doesn’t infringe on the full-size Silverado pickups territory. Check out our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado First Look HERE.
