Toyota Dominates 2014 ALG Residual Value Awards for Trucks, SUVs
Toyota Brand Takes Six out of 10 Segments in Benchmark Resale Ranking
Toyota products have long had the reputation for holding their resale value well, and the ALG's ranking of 2014 model year vehicles for projected three-year retained value validates Toyota's reputation, with Toyota models sweeping six out of the 11 truck and SUV categories. Although Toyota took home the highest number of awards for individual models, Honda was ranked first overall due to its low average incentive spending and low fleet sales, two important indicators of future retained value.
The Honda CR-V won for the Compact Utility Vehicle segment, while the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport won for the Midsize Utility Vehicle – 2 Row class. Toyota swept the Midsize Utility Vehicle 3-Row, Fullsize Utility Vehicle, Off-Road Utility Vehicle, Midsize Pickup and Fullsize Pickup categories, as well as winning the Premium Fullsize Utility Vehicle award with the Land Cruiser.
Other non-Toyota winners included the Acura RDX for the Premium Compact Utility Vehicle class, and the Range Rover Sport for the Premium Midsize Utility Vehicle -- 2 Row, although the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has a folding third row for seven-passenger capacity. The Audi Q7 took the Premium Midsize Utility Vehicle -- 3 Row award.
