2014 Nissan Rogue Earns Top Safety Pick Plus Rating from IIHS

Model Joins Forester, CX-5, Outlander as Safest Tested Small SUVs

Mar 20, 2014
The 2014 Nissan Rogue is the latest small SUV to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's coveted TSP+ designation, joining the Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, and Mitsubishi Outlander in the class for having the safest tested vehicles by the agency. To qualify for the plus designations, vehicles must get good ratings in all five crash categories, including the recently implemented small front overlap test. The Rogue earned additional kudos for getting a "basic" score in front crash prevention with an optional forward collision warning system.
The Rogue is the only model among the four vehicles in its class that has achieved the TSP+ rating that does not have some sort of active braking system, such as Subaru's EyeSight, the Mazda Smart City Brake system, or the Forward Collision Mitigation system in the Mitsubishi. In addition to its forward collision warning system, rated by the IIHS as a "basic" advanced safety feature, the Rogue also has optional around-view monitor and moving object detection, lane departure warning and blind spot warning systems.
The TSP+ rating applies only to the redesigned 2014 model Rogue, and not the carryover "Rogue Select" model that is still on sale at Nissan dealerships.
