Official: 2016 Ford F-650, F-750 Production Moving from Mexico to Ohio

All-New Medium Duty Truck Production Comes Back Home

Mar 8, 2014
Ford held a ceremony at its Avon Lake, Ohio, plant commemorating what has been rumored and inferred for the better part of the past year -- that production of the 2016 F-650 and F-750 medium duty trucks would be moving north of the border with the introduction of the next-generation model. Avon Lake is currently the production site for the E-Series vans. They’ll be replaced by the all-new 2015 Transit, which will be built at Ford's Kansas City Assembly. Production of the E-Series cab-chassis models will continue at Avon Lake for the foreseeable future.
The outgoing F-650 and F-750 were produced at the joint-venture Blue Diamond truck plant that Ford shared with Navistar in General Escobedo, Mexico, near the northern industrial city of Monterrey. As previously reported, the other major change on the 2016 F-650 and F-750 models is the discontinuation of the Cummins ISB engine option. Starting with the 2016 models, the sole diesel engine option will be Ford's own 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8, which will be offered in three power levels. The 6.8-liter gas V-10, first offered as an option in 2012, continues on the new model, and will allow for operation on natural gas or propane with a special upfit package.
