Jeep Previews Cherokee Dakar, Wrangler MOJO Concepts for Moab
Tradition of Concept Vehicles at Off-Road Mecca Continues
The Easter Jeep Safari, held every year in Moab, Utah, could be considered the Sturgis of off-roading. It brings off-roading enthusiasts from every corner of the country to the red rocks of eastern Utah for a week of camaraderie, so they can test their vehicles' capability and enjoy some breathtaking scenery. It has also traditionally been a time when Jeep shows off some of its new concepts, previews of production-intent models, and some out-there musings of the Jeep and Mopar teams' fertile imaginations.
This year, Jeep and Mopar are teasing a Cherokee and Wrangler concept. As of now, we only have one photo of each, and no firm mechanical details. But the photos released do give some hint at what hardware the two vehicles might be packing. The Cherokee Dakar has a red trim surround around the side glass, and aggressive front and rear fender flares with rivet details. Also conspicuously visible in the concept sketch are front and rear coil springs, hinting that the concept has some sort of suspension modifications. The chunky-treaded tires also suggest something a little more aggressive than the factory rolling stock.
The other concept being revealed is the Wrangler MOJO concept. What we know for sure is it will be very orange and likely have Mopar's LED accessory headlights. The Cherokee Dakar and Wrangler MOJO will be two of six models Jeep and Mopar will debut at Moab this year.
