Land Rover Teases Discovery Vision Concept Ahead of New York
Video Shows Flexible Seating, Evoque-Influenced Styling, Knob Shifter
We've reported multiple times on Land Rover's future product plans in which the brands products will be divided into essentially three families: Range Rover for the luxury models, Discovery for its mainstream bread-and-butter products, and Defender for its rugged, basic models. We're about to get a better idea of what's coming for the Discovery family with this teaser photo and video from Land Rover.
The video shows the silhouette of a midsize SUV, with some obvious styling influences from the Range Rover Evoque, especially in the nose. The video then cuts to the interior, which shows seats moving and folding, suggesting a high level of versatility and passenger capacity. We also get a close-up of the console design, showing a rotary knob shifter, which has recently become a brand hallmark, and metallic-finish accents on either side of the center stack.
Other than that, we know a precious little about the technical details of the vehicle, and whether the concept will preview the production version of the Freelander's replacement or the current Discovery (LR4). We're thinking it’s the former as the former Freelander (LR2) will become part of the Discovery family of vehicles. Check back in two weeks for more details on the Discovery Vision Concept.
