Build your very own custom International big rig
April 4, 2008
It seems like everyone's launching car-configuration sites days and now truck maker International has gotten into the game. Fans of Convoy and Breaker! Breaker! take note: if you're stuck in a four-wheeler but always wanted your very own big rig, here's your chance to trick one out just the way you like it.
International's build-your-own site features two of the company's trucks, the old-school style 9900 and ultra-flashy new Lone Star, which already comes with a massive chrome grille and bumper before you even start customizing. Both models are available as day cabs or with sleeping compartments, and buyers can select from a massive color palate that should have something for everyone.
Speaking of customizing, no eighteen-wheeler cruising ninety-fifth street is complete without a few extras to make it stand out, and International has got that covered. Among other things buyers can spruce up their rigs with anything from accent colors to decals to of course, mud flaps. Load up one of these bad boys with flame decals, chrome everything, and no less than six light bars and you'll make the truck from Duel look like a kid's toy.
For the interior International customers can choose from several seat colors and trims, but the biggest surprise is how nice these trucks are inside. Most drivers probably think of truck cabs as cramped and uncomfortable places to live for weeks on end, but with wood floors, a kitchenette, 42-inch Murphy bed, TV and closet space, the inside of the Lone Star rivals many studio apartments.
Try creating your very own rig here, but remember: if you're haulin' down the I95 and someone on the CB says there's a bear up ahead, be careful not to put the hammer down -- they're talking about the highway patrol.
