Lexus will be sending out its next-generation RX SUV to the Los Angeles auto show in November, and it will be very similar to the LF-Xh hybrid SUV concept from the 2007 Tokyo motor show. Prototypes of the RX SUV have been spotted during testing in Germany. The new RX will be longer, wider, taller, and heavier than the previous generation, with weight reportedly to increase by 640 lb to a total curb weight of 4510 lb. The larger SUV is expected to have seven-passenger seating capacity.

For North America, the base RX will utilize a 3.5L V-6 with 280 hp and 257 lb-ft of torque. A new six-speed automatic transmission will come standard, along with Lexus' Super Electronically Controlled gearshift program and hillstart assist. The RX400h hybrid trim will feature a better V-6 hybrid drive system with nearly 400 hp. A new V-8 engine will also be offered. Production of the new RX line is expected to begin at the start at the end of this year, with sales to start in the first quarter of 2009.
While the Lexus LF-Xh hybrid SUV concept has been noted to be a very close original interpretation of the new 2010 Lexus RX, the new RX is likely to use conventional bi-Xenon headlights compared with the LF-Xh's LED headlights.
