All (LED) Eyes on Mercedes GLK Option That Hit the Web Rumor Trail
February 5, 2009
The Mercedes-Benz GLK is already out. We've driven it and we've tested it. So why are these spy photos making the internet rounds? Well, the camouflage around the driving lights provides a good hint.
On the GLK pictured here, new daytime driving light package peeks through 18 holes which are surrounded by subtle cladding. True, these lights may be as innocuous as the new optional LED daytime lights that debuted on the E Class and will be sweeping the Benz lineup soon, or a leftover piece from the precursor to the production vehicle, the Vision GLK Freeside concept. Yet, other rumors hint that these could be the first shots of work on a production GLK with a long-rumored hybrid drivetrain, similar to that of the diesel-hybrid concept. Still, some staffers would like to think these are a precursor to something more fun. Like photon torpedo launchers.
