2011 BMW X1 Receives Five-Star European NCAP Crash Test Rating
December 10, 2009
The 2011 BMW X1 will be available in the U.S. soon, and arriving with it will be its five-star European NCAP crash test rating. The smallest member of BMW’s X line was recently subjected to the assessment program and scored well on all fronts, earning an 87 percent adult safety rating, 86 percent for children, 63 percent for pedestrians, and 71 percent for safety assists. The X1 scored highest in child and pedestrian safety among the 12 new vehicles tested during the Euro NCAP’s most-recent round of evaluations, which included the previously reported Infiniti FX.
The European New Car Assessment Program is similar to IIHS and NHTSA crash tests in the U.S. and examines all facets of vehicle safety. The X1’s expected U.S. arrival is early 2011.
