Two canine-friendly Honda Elements have found new homes with the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, a charitable endeavor dedicated to assisting rescue shelter dogs.

The Dog Friendly Element was first introduced early last year and features a variety of dog-friendly amenities, such as a cushioned pet bed in the cargo area, pet restraints, a loading ramp, durable seat covers, water bowl, and a rear ventilation fan. Honda worked directly with the Takata Corporation to create the dog harnesses and now the JDHF will be able to put the boxy Hondas to good use. The foundation's Elements will be used throughout the Western U.S.
"It's so great Honda has figured out how to make the car rides for dogs -- one of their favorite pastimes -- even better," said Katherine Heigl, co-founder of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. "These pet-friendly vehicles will be a big help for our work with homeless shelter animals who need rescue and medical treatment."
